12 hours until flood [MERGED]

Took the last pain pill at about noon and will plan to start dosing at about midnight. The withdrawals should be pretty well kicked in by then. I have been up to about 200 mg per day of oxycodone and OxyContin. I have been micro-dosing for several weeks at 600 mg to 1200 mg RB per day using a schedule of five days on and then a break of two days. This began for the purpose of tapering, but my discipline was lacking. I capped up the HCL last night. Three capsules of 400 mg each and one capsule of 300 mg, for a total of 1.5 g. At my weight (about 180 pounds) this equals approximately 18 mg/kg. I will take the 300 mg first as the test dose and spread the rest over the next 3-4 hours. This is my fourth flood. Iboga has always worked for me to eliminate withdrawals, but I relied on it too much as a magic cure, rather than committing to do my part in making life changes. I think I have a better approach lined up this time. I am looking forward to getting the "spiritual awakening" which has always been lacking during my prior three floods. I will follow-up with AA/NA meetings where I have always found strong reinforcement and support. I will post when able to give an update of how things go. Thanks for all your help and support.

I wish you all the best fritzerman! You can and will stay clean...just do whatever it takes.  Even if you don't get the spiritual awakening that you so desire from the flood, keep pressing on and seek your own inner truth...the awakening will come.  Working those steps probably won't hurt.  The 12-step approach is at the core of my recovery, but I do a lot peripheral stuff to round out my holistic recovery.  That's why I hang out in the majikal land of Ebokia from time to time Again, positive intentions and best of luck to you my friend.

I started taking iboga at about 10:30 PM on Tuesday. Didn't have any real visions or spiritual awakening, but the iboga did rid me of any serious withdrawal symptoms. Having a little sneezing and watery eyes. However, I still feel dead with no zip. Managed to walk around the block earlier this morning and also managed to take a little protein shake and some apple juice on my stomach. I misplaced where I saved my list of supplements or vitamins. Thanks for all your support.

Hey cloris, Welcome back!  Glad to hear the w/d's aren't bad!  Did you end up doing the whole 1.5?  I am surprised to hear you had no visions.  I am available to talk to you if you'd like.....you know how to reach me.  The sulbutiamine is the rock and roll nootropic for motivation and zip.  I had a "give up" mentality this morning due to some personal stuff, and 600mgs of sulbutiamine (max daily from per manufacturer) and 45 minutes later and I am focused and in the zone.  Since sulbutiamine lowers DA levels, and Iboga leaves us with that wonderful SSRI type of metabolite (Noribogaine), I am not sure what effect that would have taking the sulbutiamine within the first 3 weeks of a flood.  I know there is a relationship between serotonin and dopamine, and it is widely misunderstood.  I would just hate to see any Noribogaine be compromised from your receptors by lowering dopamine levels.....even though I am not really even close to being sure this would be the case (just a speculation).  So your experience with the nootropic will be valuable to Iboga, if you take it within the first month of the flood.  I have yet to see anyone else's reports on sulbutiamine so quick after a flood.  I think you should take it day by day, and make your decisions as you assess yourself coming back into the opiate free world.  If you are going to Micro Dose Iboga, be weary of how it interacts with Nootropics...maybe don't do the two at the same time.  If you have a couple weeks off, one idea could be to do 5 days of MDing, a couple day break, then try the sulbutiamine.  2-4 weeks max cycles on the sulbutiamine.  This time to reflect and rebuild (practice, practice, practice) is crucial, as you know, so just be super kind to yourself!

Thanks BT. do you have any recommendations for vitamins or nutrition? The protien shake seemed to help some. I'm actually pretty wobbly on my feet, although I did manage to walk around the block this morning.

Just real quick and I can always elaborate: You should have vitamins and minerals in addition to whole food. Whey protein is okay.  Stay away from the dairy....almond milk is wonderful.  Like Cal said Potassium..bananas are the best source of potassium and easiest to eat post flood, IMO.  If you/someone can get to a health food store (from your writing you shouldn't be driving yet it seems), get liquid vitamins and minerals.  They absorb much better.....some so much so that with some brands you can over do it and feel a detox because your body is not used to that level of minerals saturating your cells.  So read the directions on whatever you choose!  There are some pretty potent vitamins and minerals you can buy, if you can spend the money.  Maybe the easiest way to do it at the store would be a whole food vitamin and a liquid mineral source.  Aloe juice is really good for the stomach as well (and is in a lot of liquid mineral products)....The stomach is responsible for a large majority of the immune system.  I'd also get a curcumin product and don't be afraid to use it! Qunioa is the best carb I think...  A healthy mix of carbs and protein in the morning will be your best bet to support exercise....which should only have the most wonderful synergistic effect---between the noribogaine and the endorphins.  Keep your mind focused on your new life and all your new practices.  Nutrition is important, as you know.  And realizing that protein helped and that all these other nutritional regimens help something is divine if you choose to see it that way.  This is your mind, body, and soul healing itself and you are supporting it!    cloris, allow all the information, the practice, and the way it's healing you empower you!  Let it fuel you, literally!  A healthy mind is just as important.  Tell yourself the good you are doing, make it a mantra.  Smile as much as you can and breathe.  Repeat!

Nice to you fritzerman, folks recommend potassium supplements, along with magnesium and calcium for sure. Minerals minerals minerals. The potassium will lessen or alleviate any lingering leg-cramps and magnesium is especially good for muscles also. I am far from a health guy, but those minerals and a good multivitamin are easy and a good place to start. Blue Tiger and his blender are surely potent weapons against fatigue, and generally feeling icky - especially post ibo. I remember I could feel every little miniscule thing I took in to my system after flooding, eating a strawberry was psychedelic. Could feel the vitamins and the nutrition, I never pay attention to that stuff, you know? Intense. Good to see you up and about, be easy man and good luck!

I clicked the details on Tuesday at noon and did the flood on Tuesday night starting at 10:30 PM. So it's been over 48 hours since my last pain pill. I have been feeling kind of antsy this afternoon. I think I'm getting a little bit of energy back..Have been for two walks and done some minor chores. Those small things did take a lot out of me, but I will keep pushing the exercise. Still have a dizzy feeling and not as steady on my feet. I haven't noticed any of the RLS to any degree as of yet. I know that's one of the demons to watch out for. I have eaten a couple of protein shakes, a banana, and some apple juice. All in all, I think I'm ahead compared to my last flood. I hope the future brings no surprises other than good ones. Thanks for all the advice and help from everyone here. It really does help will

thanks BT I think I might be able to get out tomorrow to the health food store. I took on the chore of vacuuming and shampooing the basement rec room. That really took it out of me, but I feel I have to push myself as you and others have recommended. I feel like my head is clearing a little bit. I really appreciate the support and advice.

finally got some sleep last night after taking a few gabapentin. I felt like I was starting to go into withdrawal. I had heard gabapentin is recommended by many for withdrawal symptoms. I'm not advocating this, just relating my experience. I still feel very sluggish today. I managed to drink another protein shake, took the magnesium and One-A-Day vitamin. Went for a walk around the block which really drained me. Did a little work from the office this morning, but it wasn't much and concentration was difficult. I am holding tight looking forward to a different life and without the opiates, but by my nature I am eager to move forward which affects my patients. also, I have cheated at couple times on quitting cigarettes which I know is something I need to quit. Thanks for all the advice and help.

cloris,  I have taken 20-30mgs of melatonin post flood, so don't worry about the high dosing with that.  I know they sell the wimpy 1mg pills which is nothing for someone post flood coming off opiates.  This is your time off.  Your time to do new things, new behaviors, or just feel comfortable without opiates until you are ready to push yourself.  Cannabis will surely slow down you eagerness  to "move forward" (and eating it will help you sleep).  This eagerness is good and bad, and I think you know what I mean.  Realize that there is a healing process going on and the only thing you can do is respect it.  So slap that eagerness back into it's place and transform into something positive.  Maybe make a commitment that you will do something new everyday to make it a habit.  You have committed to not doing certain things........So, what could you commit to doing once a day for about 30 days?  even if it's 15 minutes a day.....journal, meditation, something outside your comfort zone that is good for your mind.  Sunshine, thinking of happy memories, exercise, and massage are 4 things that naturally increase serotonin....I would do all 4 everyday if I were you right now--with Nori on the brain.

thank you BT for the encouragement and suggestions. Just before you sent your post I went to Walmart and got some nicotine patches, some green goddess and some bananas. I feel like I need to start eating more. I went for a short walk but that was pretty draining. Actually felt good for just a little while while out to Walmart. I realize it's only day three off of the pain pills and that I need to be more patient. Your advice is valuable and I'm always open to any suggestions from anybody. My biggest challenge I think has been quitting cigarettes. I started cheating the second day. Now I have the patch on and feel more committed. Take care my friends.

Has anyone ever had problems with thermal regulation – feeling cold all the time during the first days after a flood? I've been wearing long sleeved shirts/sweaters in the house and even when I go outside for a walk I wear long pants, but still feel a little chilled even though it's 85° outside. I am wondering if this is a little bit of the withdrawal symptoms seeping through. It's nothing serious, just annoying. I managed to walk a mile and a half today(in three separate 1/2 mile walks) and mow the grass(a riding mower to make full disclosure). I've been eating good today and bought some of the green goddess drinks which I've drank extensively. When it gets later in the day towards the night I tend to get an antsy feeling. I quit smoking finally and started on the nicotine patch. Maybe this has something to do with the antsy feeling. Thanks to all and appreciate any advice or suggestions.

Aloha fritzerman, I must say you sound to me like you are drifting back down to earth nicely, I realize you may not feel too great - but you are definitely doing great!  Man those chills, and any other thermal/tactile sensations of the sort, have pretty much followed every flood I have done. Hard to say exactly what the primary cause is because ibo lights you up like a Christmas tree - feeling nerves and sensations long lost to the insulated opiate bubble, the slightest draft in a room would freeze me to the core. Carried goosebumps on my goosebumps for close to a week, but every day it got a little less noticeable. Yes indeed it could be a vestigial withdrawal- but by this point in your enterprise you could probably pee clean, so if it IS withdrawal (or you perceive it so), know that it is on its way out and it will not and cannot return in force to bug you or piss you off once it is in full retreat like this. You are on the advance. Sometimes folks confuse 'iboga fatigue' with opiate withdrawal, and they can closely resemble each other in many ways, so it is easy to mix up, but I think this is a flashing neon sign: pointing to the psychological struggle in newborn recovery: does it really matter if a discomfort is the result of an ibogaine reset [turning all the lights back on at once] or from lingering tendrils of defeated opiate dependence... clawing the walls on the way out? Either way the physical side is the same, either or both ways the unpleasantness is fleeting and the fatigue and restlessness ephemeral.  It is important to keep communicating like this man, it is smart to maintain accountability of some kind - you are going strong even if you have feelings of frailty or weakness in your body. Snapping out of a poly - drug addiction and the lifestyle required to sustain it is gigantic.  You are also quitting nicotine which is a super enormous task! Those patches can cause chills, clamminess/sweats and insomnia all by themselves. They may have side effects disturbing sleep and can show up as bizarre, unusually potent or vivid dreams (which are also very common post-ibo) Your system has taken what amounts, very seriously, to shock therapy - and is mid way in to the process of acute rehabilitation.   So many variables, streaming through your metabolism at once  - all working toward specific designs or changes, and all happening so fast. Truly remarkable and even a little creepy how precise and powerful this medicine is. Often all we need is that one-second pause to reflect before we act. Iboga showed me how it replaces that knee-jerk reaction with conscientious discernment  - pow! Careful not to push yourself too hard too fast - physically- but for sure keep moving man    Momentum is a wonderful thing and you are doing it by the book bro - hope you continue progressing, big vibes ~ Cal

Keep up the progress fritzerman!  It sounds like you're doing a lot these past few days to support your recovery.  Continue to be kind to yourself and before long you'll be a new fritzerman.  Baby steps. I should advise, be sure to bundle up before going outside becasue it is supposed to be a scorcher today!

thanks brightwillow. Your advice was very supportive and encouraging, and also full of guidance. I woke up at 6 AM this morning wide-awake (actually slept quite good for eight hours) and drank some green goddess then went for a walk (1/4 mile). That tuckered me out a bit and my back was starting to hurt so I took some ibuprofen and sat down for a while all they kicked in. I have had the craving for bacon and eggs since I woke up. I think I'll go ahead and cook up a batch, although I thought it would wait until my wife woke up and cook for both of us. Oh well. Understanding these disturbances like having a cold feeling helps to deal with them I think. I read somewhere that after doing a flood the thermal system is one of the first to return to normal. That fits in with your explanation of the relation to ibogaine. I am determined to stay off the cigarettes, although the thought of smoking comes to me regularly I have to just ignore it and move on waiting for it to go away. I'm feeling confident I will make that goal. I think of my kids and my future as dependent on it.

thanks for the support lightswitchedon. When I went for my walk this morning it was probably 70°. I had on blue jeans with a T shirt and sweater on top. my neighbors must've thought I was crazy. Does caffeine definitely mess up the noribogaine glow? Some have spoke of really enjoying coffee after a flood. I'm on day 4 post flood and would like to drink a small cup but don't want to risk my progress. Whats the answer?

0
B
brightwillow· 4d ago

Nah, man - caffeine (to my uncertain knowledge but quite certain experiences) does not interfere with the metabolites. Alcohol is the big deal it seems, and one drink is probably not even bad for you, but why risk it for sure. I think you will be pleasantly jazzed by your coffee - you surely deserve it - enjoy! I love coffee too

I waited for my wife to get up and then I fixed us both bacon and eggs. Then showered and shaved which really refreshed me. Then ran out to Walmart and purchase some more green goddess and blue goddess. Surprisingly, I really like this stuff. It's day four since my flood. My head has cleared I have lost almost all of the dizziness feeling. Had a few tracers this morning but those are gone. Have a persistent sneezing and now and then some watering eyes. Otherwise, I'm actually feeling pretty good. Much better than I expected really. I'm thinking of getting out and doing some chores. I have a truckload of compost/mulch in my pickup truck in the driveway that needs to be moved. That might be biting off more than I can chew. Don't know until I try. Thanks for all the help and support.

My appetite has come on strong with a vengeance. Trying to stay healthy in what I eat. We are having tilapia for supper tonight. Two of the kids are in town and my daughter  who lives in St. Louis will be in sometime in the morning. I managed to get the entire  house vacuumed and an entry room shampooed. Before doing all this I did some reading here and elsewhere, and he decided to try some tyrosine with some D phenalanine. I also had a little bit of coffee. I didn't take any more rhodiola. I don't know which one helped the most but I did get a  good energy burst. I'm reaching the end of my fourth day since the flood and am feeling better than I expected to be at this point. Frankly, I've been pushing myself physically and I think it is paying off. We'll see how I feel in the morning. Thanks to all.

thanks for the kind words Lalalaba.I just had another first. I was watching a sitcom and at a sad moment in the show I felt a rush of goosebumps come over me. That never happens to me, or at least it hasn't happened in many years. It was like an ability to empathize that returned. I'm taking it as a good sign. I have slept very good since the flood until tonight. I have been taking gabapentin along with melatonin to help with sleep. I have some Ativan but would rather not take that. I know I won't die without sleep, but it sure makes the night dragg on. I'm downstairs on the sofa in front of the TV so no problem keeping entertained. Take care my friend.

I think I'm making more progress today. I woke up feeling fairly fresh, then drank the rest of my green goddess and blue goddess that I had left (need to go get more). Been taking minerals recommended and some supplements. I took the sulbutiamine 200 mg again today. It seemed to help but I can't say for certain. It certainly didn't seem to harm me or set me back in any way. Managed to walk for a half-mile this morning then fix myself some breakfast of bacon and eggs and toast and chowed that down. I used to never eat breakfast, but my appetite is back with a vengeance and I'm eating all day. Staying fairly steady on the quit smoking although I cheated a couple times. Oh well, looking forward to a good Father's Day. All the kids are in town which will be great. We're going to barbecue pork steak and eat at about 1 PM. Thanks all.

it's day five since my flood and I'm feeling a little more sluggish it seems today. Also have that antsy feeling like I'm trying to get an energy boost but it never comes. I took one half of an Ativan that seems to have helped greatly. We are having Father's Day dinner at 1 PM and all the kids are in town which helps with the attitude. I work hard on keeping a positive attitude because I think that is key to success. Nobody said it was going to be easy. Oh well, I will hang firm. Thanks to all.

That may sound like a negative attitude and I suppose I have a little of that today. I keep focusing on the positive attitude and the life ahead free of opiates. I'm getting rid of that ball and chain. I have been eating good and walking quite a bit. The thermal regulation is off a little still and I get hot flashes mixed with cold spells. It was really hard to get going today. I managed to go to the office and work for about an hour and a half. That seems like a good sign. I will work on my patients. It's just this feeling like I'm sloshing through mud and can't quite get going that is driving me crazy. Oh well, the price to pay for my choices. Take care all.

I would not be afraid to do a 600mg sulbutiamine dose if I were you right now.  Do it with some fatty foods, see how it treats ya.  Then have your caffeine if you don't feel effect after an hour.  Please report back on this if you can. it's been eight days since I did my flood. I think I notice a little bit improvement today. it's hard to tell since the improvement is so minuscule day-to-day. I walked a couple miles this morning, then managed to go into the office for about an hour this afternoon. Just to do this little bit it takes a lot of willpower and push. I'm still pretty much without energy and my thermal regulation is still off. I vacillate between being cold and hot flashes. Last night I did some root bark and that seemed to help. Oh well, I will keep hanging in there. Appreciate all the support I've gotten here.

I felt pretty good when I got up this morning although I'm still sitting in the recliner. I do feel like I have a good amount of energy, but I know how fast that can dissipate once I get up and get to doing something. Cal, you hit the nail on the head in describing how I feel when my wife is doing things I would normally do. She is very understanding about iboga and its process. She has been my sitter for the last three floods. I had a bad experience when I did a flood in August when I was quitting opiates. Mistakenly, I quit Adderall at the same time and later found out that I should have distanced myself from Adderall long before the flood. The recovery that time was mercilessly slow. Back to the point, I have often described my wife is the most decent person I've ever met in my life. Yesterday, she went over to some rental property we own to replace one of the turrets on the roof which vents the attic. I couldn't stand it and finally went over to help, but she already had it done. We laughed about it. Well, I'm going to get up and do something. I'll report back about whether I have any increased energy level today once I find out. Thanks to all.

I managed to do a little mowing and trimming, then put in about a half an hour unloading some compost from the pickup truck. That was fairly draining. In the afternoons/evenings I get an antsy feeling, what someone here once aptly described as feeling like a porcupine. I don't like the feeling. I have some benzo's, but have been using those only to help sleep at night. I have also been taking fairly large doses of melatonin at night. Overall, I am feeling a little bit better every day although not by leaps and bounds. Thanks for the advice and support.

It's day 13 since my flood and I feel like I have a little more energy again today. However, the raw feeling still persist. It's a feeling of being antsy and particularly comes on later in the day towards the evening. I put in about five hours work today because I had to and it wore me out pretty good. Overall though things continue to get better every day. Best to all.

The thermoregulation problems pretty much faded away yesterday. I woke up this morning with more energy and to a more significant degree. I'm still sneezing some but that's no big deal. I am not 100% by any means but I have to say I feel one hell of a lot better. My appetite is strong. I got out for a walk early this morning before going into the office. I came home for lunch and ate a big meal. I plan to go back to the office in just a little bit. Although it has taken 14 days to feel halfway normal, I feel grateful for the opportunity that iboga has given me. I don't have any desire to take any pain pills and I have a commitment to never touch another one. This is the best site for information, advice and support for anyone who's thinking of taking ibogaine. Thanks for all the help and support.

I felt pretty good when I went into the office this morning. I worked all morning and came home for lunch, but had a real lull after eating. I micro-dosed with about 600 mg of bark which gave me some energy and I made it back to the office about 2:30. After I went back to the office I was talking to my partner and she asked me if I was all right. I told her I had been having trouble sleeping, but otherwise felt okay. She explained that she had asked because my pupils were very dilated. I went and looked in a mirror and they were fairly dilated, but then again when I was taking the pain pills my pupils were the opposite. Can anyone tell me if that's a normal effect from micro-dosing?

My dear fritz -    IME with these matters, low dose iboga has not usually manifested many direct symptoms/signs that would necessarily be deemed an obvious 'drug-type' response. Even while under acute heavy ibogaine intoxication I have looked closely at my eyes in the mirror, several times (on separate occasions), and always been amazed that my pupils weren't as dilated as they become on anything else...LSD, mushrooms, marvelous DMT, mescaline, and even stimulants (cocaine, amphetamines) ALL have made my pupils noticeably huge.    I have also boosted and micro-dosed countless times and never, even after accumulated micro doses, have I perceived any noticeable pupil dilation. Sometimes there may be flushing due to hot flashes, maybe you'll get goosebumps or chills and - not seldom - tremors in the extremities: these [hand tremors] I noticed more than anything, it began to be a hassle after a week or more of micro dosing.        Since everyone reacts subtly to different chemicals and meds, and iboga alks are known to elicit such side effects as pupil dilation, this could indeed be just a temporary annoyance caused by your micro dosing. In some this may be more discernible than others. But what I think is equally likely if not probable, is just that now, you are not on dope.    People at my old job never noticed shite when I was on methadone, but let me miss a dose or two and all of a sudden I looked like a spun out tweaker. I love irony. Were I to have abruptly quit taking opiates, I would look like I just did a hot-rail in the bathroom. It is a common response to see pupil dilation in newly recovering opioid addicts, just like shivers or a runny nose. Even if you were not taking iboga I'd bet your next paycheck you would be experiencing the same presentations. Just part of the natural convalescence - appearances will steadily change as you heal.    All in all, the very contrast in how you appear today - versus your established, more familiar 'self' - will invariably turn heads and perhaps designate extracurricular interest or observation...which may translate to the uncomfortable notion of opinion. But you know what they say about that...   Any and all of these quirks are totally appropriate to the circumstances, not in any way unusual or uncommon, and no fun. The silver lining: they are ephemeral phenomena and before you know it - or at least soon, man..."This too shall pass away"   Be well dude, thanks for sharing it is good to see you on the mend. Have patience [yeah coming from ME ] and be nice to yourself  ~Cal PS - zingdoozer - thanks for the suggestion, we will work to combine previous threads and tidy up a bit now that we're getting some journals stacked up
