Advices needed for a flood dose
So, how's it going? Why low dose RB first? Are you going to ramp the doses? What is your target dose? What's her regular heart rate and BP? Why do you say it's a tricky situation? How much was she on per day of the opes? Do you have TA or PTA? What percentage? More questions than answers, I know. You are in my thoughts, as is she.
We are waiting for some help to arrive from UK on Monday Decided to postpone it. She is 41 kilos and the detox session will drop her weight even more. Tomorrow we are making full medical tests. I will update, in case of development.
Cool.
ok, situation is such - she has pretty much scrambled her metabolism with the eating disorders, shoving heroin on top just to feel OK, very fragile and sickly, had a pulse of 104 this morning (probably due to the stress). it's a close friend, and i realize if we dont do this (we practically kidnapped her from her mom), she wont live long. we've mobilized everybody we can get in contact with for advices and suggestions. feeding her colloid food - soup, banana nectars, peanut butter... so, please, do throw your 2 cents here.
did you get a ekg and lab work. As I am sure you know those with eating disorder do a lot of damage to the heart muscles.. I would just be sure to cover all bases with her. Consider having a Hep-lock in place for any emergencys that could come up.. very hard for even 911 to start an iv once BP is very low and heart stops. Please keep us posted.. very interested. I did turn down a person seeking iboga with 8 yrs of eating disorder due to lab/ekg. I did however attempt to get her to call the clinics..and a few folks that I know work with this wonderful plant..with more experience then I. I dont think she contacted anyone I suggested in the UG or I might have heard... hopefully she did contact at least dreamhouse or Pagea... Lord, she is always on my mind.
We still haven't done the tests (it's weekend). She is going to get tested on Monday. Right now we are feeding her with colloid foods and supplementing her with B complex. Tomorrow we are going to put her on banks with glucose and vitamin C + lactobacilicus in order to try normalize her peristaltic rhythms. We are going to go very easy with her and will not administrate ibogaine, until she is capable of surviving the treatment. She is very weak.
happygrove27 & tryl, you two are the type of friends that no one has enough of! My sincere compliments to you both! Namaste! Now, as for your very lucky friend... IF there's any food that has been 'in there' for a while, I find it good to clean myself out before detox. Since nutrition is a concern, though, you might not want to go that route. An enema might be best, if needed. I don't know if you or she are vegetarians, but if she isn't, you might want to consider chicken soup with LOTs of chicken. She needs lots of protein to rebuild, something not found in typical vegetarian diets. You do know that too much C and lactobacillus can have a disruptive effect on the GI tract, right? Unless you're giving her lipo-C or ester-C, I would limit the amount at 500mg per day for someone like her. Once her intestines have been repopulated with beneficial organisms, no need to continue lactobacillus, especially within at least 24 hours before treatment, lest she experience uncomfortable GI symptoms. I recommend that ALL vitamins and supplements be discontinued 24 hours prior to treatment. If she won't survive on easily digestible foods for 24 hours, treatment should be withheld until she can. Do you know the alkaloid content in the TA? 41K * 10mg/K is only 410mg of TA. That should definitely be safe, regardless of alk content. Chopping the TA up until it is a very fine powder will help with assimilation. For that reason, I would not be too aggressive in limiting her use of H before treatment. You want her coming into treatment as strong and stress-free as possible. For sure, stop IV use, but don't stress her out too much until she is ready for a dose of iboga that will replace the H. You might want to consider allowing her to continue with the H for a while until she is definitely stronger. For most folks, iboga ain't no walk in the park. Just my thoughts, I'd like to hear from others, too. Wishing you and her total and complete success! guenevere_walks
Respect to you for wanting to care for your friend, and for being so careful to do whats best. Hope everything turns out ok.
Hi happygrove27, Ibo is a rough road it seems she is caught between a rock and a hard place. She can't can take the Ibo for she is too weak and she can't get stronger because she does not eat. It seems like time is of the essence I would almost say build the body up even if a person must take methadone for six months. Ibo stays in the body a long time, once you start there is not turning back. The mg/kg is for healthy people. How will she handle the no sleep no eating she may not be able to go 5 days with nothing. As far as left over food in the intestinal track that will come out during the detox. If her eating problems are that severe she should see a real Dr. Yea, this is gonna be a rough one. In a way your messing with problems the best of the Dr can not solve. I wish you the very best of luck. cinderpath
I agree about allowing her H at this point. Will help her eat, rest and no need to put extra stress on her. would be better if she could switch to morphine.. just so you know or to help to prevent infection/abcess from miss hit. I would also try and have a hep lock in place...this way you can give antimetic IV and if something does go south... access already there. Good luck.
She is currently on morphine. We both realize how serious the situation is - we are keeping in touch with several MD's, plus other healers, such as Sara Glatt and taking under consideration your advices. It's a very sensitive situation and we won't be rushing with the flood session. I am thinking, that if she is not physically able to handle it, we should postpone it for the next year. But the thing is, she doesn't live in a healthy home environment - her mother finds the ibogaine treatment not only dangerous, but also illegal. So she doesn't have the support of her own family right now, which we all know, how important it is, especially with someone with such a fragile psyche. Pheeew....it is tough, but I hope we can get through it and help her heal. Once she's healed, she would be able to take her life in her own hands and be a stronger person.
A dr recommended Ensure or Boast for me for I do not eat like I should. It is expensive a buck a bottle or so and two bottles a day is good. I only take then when needed or affordable. If you watch for sales you can often get a buy one get one free deal often at Target. Best, cinderpath
bloodwork, transaminases and EKG all fine and in norm. and she's better. i think we can proceed tomorrow or the day after. thanks for all the support guys.
Will light a candle for her.... let us know when she starts... I do believe there is power in mass prayer sorta speak.
We'll keep a record of her treatment - how is everything doing, so we will update soon enough. She seems way better, and says she feels great (it's amazing how a change of environment and some extra care, can help a person! wow...), so let's hope her detox, goes by the book and she recovers into a completely new life, with no opiate dependence and emotional disturbances! Thank you all for the support and precious advices!
Hi Sis, They (not sure of their actual name) did a double blind study and prayed for one group and not the other and those who were prayed for had less pain and needed less meds. cinderpath
Update: the girl is getting better and better with each passing day. You could see it in her eyes, her (now) pink cheeks and smile (yeah, she started smiling). She went through 2 flood doses. The first one was detox - we were dosing her by the milligram. But she still had cravings. So after several days of healthy food, we gave her 3,2 grams of TA. Everything went smooth. I know her for about a year now - never seen her happier. And she gained 5 kilos - from 38 to 43.5 (maybe even 44 now). In the meantime, I treated another girl - 10 years of heroin habit. But she wasn't a junkie. I mean - the junkie lifestyle was very unfamiliar for her. She used iboga in the best way possible - came over here, determined that this will be the end of her mental addiction and she was sure, that this one would work. She used the bark as the tool it is to combat her own demons. Now, we sit and talk about the future - she rarely discusses the past. Feels regret for all those years, she spent being dependent on a drug. She told me the other day, that after the ibogaine session, she finds heroin to be boring. The page is closed - now she is thinking of what to write on the new one. There are no words to explain the happiness I feel for those two girls. And it all happened around Christmas - the best gift that one can ask for. Happy New Year everyone! See you in 2011
oh, very well - i had her on my mind, send her my blessings!
Hi happygrove27, Glad to hear another person getting 'cured' or about as close as you can get. People can relapse with cancer too. Wishing you the best. Hi torrie_learns Glad your doing good and hope you can keep it up. Seems like a lot of people are doing good, maybe it's the season or something. Best to All, cinderpath
Thank you all! Have a happy new year and see you in 2011
outstanding happygrove27
The other day, I spoke to the girl I recently treated (not the one, we were discussing here). More than happy to say, she has found her own path and is determine to follow it. She is mirco-dosing on regular basis, being 29 and attached to her family, she decided to finally move out (as she put it - I've changed, but the people around me, haven't.). She knows it is time to move on and is finally taking her life in her own hands. Determined and trusting the force!
