I think iboga can ruin your life.

Hi everyone. i think iboga can ruin your life. i really believe this. if you have ANY mental health issue beforehand-including anxiety- DONT DO IT. i really need to get the word out there. i have suffered so so much from only MICRODOSING and not more then 600mg. of root bark a week for about 3 months. i am on strong medicines now, and fear has come more to the surface. a fear a never knew before. PLEASE I BEG YOU IF YOU HAVE ANY MENTAL HEALTH ISSUE AND ARE CONSIDERING IBOGA, DONT DO IT.

I do have mental health issues, yet iboga benefited me incredibly. However, I did a flood and never microdosed. Actually, I've seen many posts saying how microdosing worsened people's condition. As for anxiety, I deeply recommend you to do shikantaza zazen daily. If you are interested, let me know and I will tell you how to do it. Shikantaza zazen is extremely easy: once you are in the lotus position, all you have to do is wait! There is no mental effort to do. While this may not seem to hold great benefit, it does. I actually had anxiety attacks before and since I started doing shikantaza daily, not only have I never had any panic attack, but I am much, much, much calmer. Even after a few seconds of shikantaza, one already starts to feel better. This may be what you need to get rid of your anxiety. As for the iboga that can ruin one's life, well, in the rare cases where it happens, I do believe it is reversible! And shikantaza is one way to do so. At last, I deeply advice against microdosing! Or if one does (some people do report benefiting from this) listening to one's reaction is extremely important so that one knows when to stop or lower dosage. Still, I believe this is reversible.

shayne13, No offense but enough already.  How many times are you going to say this?  We get the point.

in order to truly help others tanya can you give us a complete personal history specifically including diagnosis and previous medications your experience could then be a warning for those who have the same diagnosis etc personally i know of several people who suffered years, decades of mental illness and after one flood have now lived years of healthy happy lives jbg one who is not willing to die can never truly live

Honestly,  tanya perhaps you should stop the pussy footing around and use it how its suppossed to be used?  It ain't meant to fuck around with its meant to help those that are addicted to whatever not meant to be abused and I am not saying you did but, you are supposed to flood yourself with it.    Its not something that's meant to be played with.  Seems to me that while you were "micro" dosing you probably caused your underlying metal conditions to worsen.    Instead a one time flood you have subjected yourself to a lot more than you are supposed to.   If may I be so brash as to ask Y if you knew you had said underlying mental conditions would you take such a powerful entheogen over and over again in the first place.  Any tripper worth a grain of salt knows that if you take something for a prolonged period of time that  extremely powerful adverse shit is gonna happen.   To me in your case it would be  smoking DMT everyday for 3 months.  You can believe its gonna mess with your head.   Maybe its best for you to stay away from psychedelics before you end up in the mental ward.  From what I have read it seems like your issue is lack of education about and inexperience with psychedelics period.    Either that or get the courage up and just do the damn flood and reset your brain and stop dogging iboga,  I have persnally seen it help ALOT of people some with and some without mental problems.  It's not a toy and should be used as it meant to be and with the up most respect.

perhaps after a lifetime of struggling with dis-ease and fighting a courageous battle iboga has presented itself as the ideal place the blame outside of your own self it is always easier to find an external source to blame than to stare oneself down in a mirror your life was difficult before your life is difficult now all our lives our difficult for a few years you medicated / numbed the underlying issues now you have an opportunity to truly heal yourself get to work but please - do not blame you had a lifetime of problems and maybe they are more challenging now but that does not mean that you can blame iboga for your life may you have the courage to accept your current situation, let go of the past and move on with your life whatever the situation or difficulty

Yes, Please don't tell people it can ruin their life!  For me and many others it has Saved theirs... If I remember correctly you were using SSSRI's prior to microdosing, how long did you stop those before using Ibo?  Probably not long enough, and that can seriously fuck you up... just because you are doing it wrong and feeling bad, doesn't give you the right to tell everyone it will ruin their lives!  I am sure it has helped MANY more people than it has hurt.  So please STOP!!!

ALSO, if you still have Iboga in your system and are now on STRONG MEDICINES (I am assuming anti depressants) That will fuck you up too.  Stop them until all of the Ibo is out of your system, which will probably take awhile since you have been microdosing for so long.  It can be very dangerous.

Hi everyone im sorry for offending anyone. i dont have experience with enthogens, you are right. i really dont. ive only smoked cigaretts in the past and pot. everyones experience will be different. iboga is not a toy, and is not meant to be played with. i never played with it. the only reason i did it was for medicinal purposes. believe me. im almost 40, i have no desire at this point in my life to toy around with enthogens, or any other drugs. marijuana didnt do enough to really make me want to do it again, and i never did enthogens before.

If you refuse to acknowledge your true reality, if you've never wanted more out of life, if you enjoy the status quo and want things to stay the same, if you cant embrace change and the unknown paralyzes you, if you have no experience with plant teachers and havent done much research about them, if you have no yearning for freedom in any way, feel just fine, and like things the way they are, then yes please never try Iboga.

Other than what has been said, people need to realize iboga is a drug and it has effects/side effects that occur when you take it.  While it may present a new/different viewpoint on your life or outlook, it wears off, and eventually completely leaves your system.  When it is gone, unless you've made permanent changes in your lifestyle and/or choices, you will go right back to feeling the way you did before.  Iboga can be a catalyst for change, but the effects definitely wear off, so it alone CANNOT ruin your life unless you die, or you make decisions/choices that ruin your life after taking it.  No drug gives permanent effects or people wouldn't need to keep taking them.  If you have a mental illness, it could exacerbate the issue, but it still wears off, so you could go back to taking whatever it is you were, and you should feel the same..  Iboga doesn't have permanent effects, people's choices can, though..

My opinion is. The natural medicines works and even cure from illness. You should go on and do something for yourself. But a lot of people just like their status quo and they feel comfortable with that. I never heard that a pharmaceutics cured someone. From my experiences is better to go first with Kambo, Ayahuasca and than with Iboga. Of course not alone, but with a healer who knows what he is doing. My first experience with Iboga was just crazy and really frightening, because I did it alone, but than with the shaman was a total different thing. I stopped smoking after 25 years. I was intend to stop and to get deep in myself to find the answer. I found it. When we do this kind of treatments we must have a clear intention. We are the ones who chose what will happen and we are responsible for what we get from the plants and not the plants. The plants works just fine their 50% of the job. Great journey.

Maybe we just try to help you see a bigger picture and point you in a right direction. I have a friend on pills for mental problems and she is using Kambo and Ayahuasca to heal herself. She is better and better.

I don't understand what you mean.  Obviously this a thread open for debate to lock it would mean there is nothing to debate or it has gotten so hot and gossipy that it is too controversial.  This topic is just fine and dandy IMO.

I just dont understand why this thread hasnt been "locked" like my other one. i see im not too popular here. well, this is a forum for ALL people, and each person has a different experience.  why i was doing it again and again (in VERY small amounts- 300mg. at a time) was to HEAL my mental illness, not to worsen it. who in their right mind would want to worsen their mental illness? obviously that wasnt my objective. you are talking shit and i dont appreciate it. im NOT a tripper. i ONLY did this to heal me and it fucked me up more. now i have to take alot more medications. benzodiazepines, mood stabilizers, anti-depressants, etc. i have to travel far to a psychiatrist-40 minutes away. nobody here seems to be sympathetic to my plight, to what ive been thru, which has been hell with this iboga. my intention is certainly not to offend anyone, if it healed you, then you were very lucky. i know it has healed many people. i have heard hundreds of testimonials, but from what happened to me, i cant even "be on the fence about it", in good conscious i could not recommend it to anyone. im just getting alot of flack here and im sick of it. what about days that im depressed? days that i wouldnt have been depressed (or that depressed) without the iboga? where are peoples hearts? does anyone care here? or bec. im criticizing a medicine that helped others people are taking tremendous offense to their own EGOS. but what about me and what ive gone thru? nobody seems to care about that.

I know the other thread was locked because of your tendency to rehash details, like you just did in that last post.  We know your story.  It seems based on the # of response posts you get every time you post that you are actually very popular.  I suggest starting a new thread asking for empathy.  Asking for sympathy might not be quite effective but for others to put themselves in your present condition (we don't need to hear about your past story again though, we know) will do you justice.  Just a suggestion.  Give us a chance to have heart.

tanya we know you mean well and only look for healing the  ?  now would be since you are clear that iboga is NOT for you and you have no plans of ever doing it again and you have fulfilled your moral responsibility to warn others of its dangers why would you still be signing in and reading a forum devoted to iboga ? there are many other internet forums devoted to all types of illness and all types of cures your time might be better spent on google search jbg

You were taking such small amounts, then maybe it wasn't even the Iboga in the first place that was worsening your condition.  Maybe it was.  It could have been that you stopped using all of your other meds.... that you had been on for so long.  Withdrawal from those causes severe depression.  Also mixing the two can be very dangerous.  This has been said to you many times.  I truly hope you are feeling better.  Aya could be beneficial.  I have had wonderful experiences with Kambo as well, but that is a tough one for most.

Tanya = please listen to what these people are saying to you - nobody is attacking you okay? But there is common sense and wisdom laid in front of you and you seem to just not engage it...JBG makes a great point, I understand how you could not in good conscience endorse this medicine for people like yourself - and furthermore that you would feel obliged to discourage those folks. Having learned of your difficulties, so would I -discourage some folks from this. You have read and heard it said repeatedly that this is not for everyone, and I truly am sorry it does not seem right for you... lalababa makes great sense too -how much of what you experienced was caused by discontinuation syndromes of other powerful pharmaceuticals? I have never erased or edited a single post by you - because you are correct -this forum IS for anyone, or everyone, even if Iboga is not. But your point was made over and over and so that thread -  I locked it because it was going in circles and getting negative. Maybe try what KP so wisely encouraged for you - try a new approach, ask yourself honestly what it is about being here that pulls you, that keeps you here....are you afraid or concerned that maybe there is some irresponsibility happening among a group of 'zealots' that ignore some fundamental cautions where ibogaine is concerned?  Nothing here should have led you to that belief - We all take this very seriously - we KNOW it is life-and-death... ~ are your feelings hurt because it worked for so many others and you had such difficulties? That would be perfectly understandable. No one here wants to hurt you okay? Really, but if being here is only creating pain for you, why would you consistently return with such vehement and strong contrary attitudes? You are a member of this forum, and to my mind as equal and worthy as any other, just with a unique set of issues that I think we as a group have really tried to help you explore. The fact is no one but YOU were there when you rolled from your RX's to iboga, my intuition is that it was done in over haste (which is not uncommon) BUT will always be less than satisfactory at best and ugly and scary at worst.  I do not think for a second you have suffered any permanent physiological 'damage' as a result of trying this, you never took a sizable dose all at once, and even the likelihood of you suffering some kind of 'traumatic lasting effect' from the doses you took is exceptionally small...Tanya -  if you stopped taking it, then it is over...done with, okay? It cannot continue to affect you biologically, and your psychological insistence that 'it' has somehow caused you greater harm is frankly dubious in my reckoning, because my dear I think you have a very very thin grasp of any of this: the sciences and arts behind the way it works, or even the way it is designed to work.  The consensuses we have striven very hard to accumulate here as a body of very worthy anecdotal, subjective analysis of highly varied experiences - with various forms of iboga/ibogaine - under vastly different situations for those who used it seems like it got only casual perusal fro you before you decided you knew enough to take matters into your own hands.... You - and this is my educated guess, my OPINION: you cannot, WILL NOT continue to suffer some sort of iboga-induced 'ptsd' or what have you, this is I think, a serious and very clear 'textbook' case of psychosomatic constellation of symptoms many of which were already present before your experiments...you maintain the iboga exacerbated these symptoms, and you bet it can do that in some people. You were not treated or evaluated professionally or taken through a tx professionally. You may not even be wholly aware of the likelihood of your own mistakes in this process, so please....please do not go away angry or bitter, if you need to talk or seek explanations, try a different approach, research more online, not just here - perhaps you will see a pattern develop.  Occam's Razor, Tanya:  "The principle states that one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed..." More succinctly: "The simplest explanation is usually the right one. Detectives use it to deduce who's the likeliest suspect in a murder case -- you know, the butler did it. Doctors use it to determine the illness behind a set of symptoms" Peace Tanya, consider another approach maybe you will get some clarification maybe we all will be able to see what you feel we are missing. Respectfully, Cal

This is sickening. I can't believe that you people who think you are so completely enlightened, transfigured, and mysteriously changed for all time are able to be as cruel to someone who is has a different perspective. No civility. No compassion. I thought you were on the other side. I thought you'd had a road to Damascus. I thought you'd ascended the mount of transfiguration. I've read your stories. Not only are you kicking someone while they're down - not helping them when they clearly need it, you're doing it en masse. It's not enough for just one person to shovel ill will through their keyboards. Clearly, the way you allow yourselves to behave demonstrates the illusory nature of your transformation.

Last I checked, I think Tanya was doing okay.......and she knows people care about her deep down. I like how you call us "you people."  It's like we are another race or civilization, or evolution curiousturtle59: You are just plain old misinformed.  You say you have read stories, well you haven't read all of Tanya's stories.  I am pretty sure almost every angle has been attempted to get the message across to her.  Sometimes it worked and most of the time it seemed to get convoluted along the way.  Why are you really that emotional about this to the point where you decide to attack an entire community?  Did you know that you decided to belligerently spit your venom on a group of peaceful warriors dedicated to helping each other, and anyone who is seeking help?  There is no ill will here.  Just blunt, in your face, brutal love.  Perspective is huge, and it seems you have very little to be posting such remarks of negativity.  Like a penguin trying to fly an airplane, just doesn't make much sense.

Hey now curiousturtle59, we have given much advice to TANYA over quite a period of time, we tried to be helpful and supportive, to help her make the right decisions so she wouldn't put herself in danger.   I don't think you coming on here blasting us is very helpful.  A bit upsetting as well.

wolfmoon· 29d ago

curiousturtle59, you came on here, and basically are insulting people that you don't agree with.  You don't like the way you perceive that they are treating TANYA, but in that same paragraph, insult the people who you wrongly put on a pedestal in the first place.  I agree a few of these responses seem like knee jerk defensiveness against some people's sacrament, and I think some of these posts could have been more tactful.  However, Cal summed it up nicely.  We don't believe that she has permanently worsened her life with iboga.  No one is claiming to be enlightened. and being enlightened doesn't necessarily mean that you can't disagree with someone.  Several of us have made compassionate responses, such as JBG, Cal, myself, and KP even suggested a way to help her find what she is seeking from us on the forum, if that is what she wants to do. And for that info about ibogaine staying in your system for months, that doesn't occur unless you take a sizable dose.  You'd be lucky to have iboga metabolites in your system 8 months after a treatment, as most people don't feel it after two or three, and many not even after a few weeks.. shayne13, please don't get defensive, or feel attacked, we just are trying to point out issues with your statement that iboga can "ruin your life".  Aside from death, none of the effects are permanent, and when you take into consideration all the points brought up about your former medications, and the way you quit them, there really is no way that we can fault iboga for any of your issues, even if it has actually exacerbated some symptoms.  I know that for healing during a trip, it usually requires being presented with some issue, that gets increasingly worse as the trip kicks in harder and harder.  When you reach the breaking point, with proper training/dosage/medicine, one lets go, and every problem comes into focus, and solutions are presented.  It's amazing, honestly.  But if you never take enough to reach that point, then all you experience is the crisis, and the negative feelings.  Your micro-dosing was likely doing just that, which scared you away, and that is why wayward suggested taking a full flood.  However, judging from your mind set and your psyche, most of us recommend against it, because we are not sure if you can handle it.. If there is any way we can help you or you just want to chat about iboga, you have to be willing to listen as well as post, and take into consideration that some of your blanket statements may come under scrutiny.  It's not an attack on you, just an attack on misinformation.  I hope you are not offended and you don't go away upset, because I am sure most of us DO care about your well-being, we just don't agree with where you place the blame for your issues.  Good luck!
