music?

I have been on here asking alot of questions and have gotten many answers to my benifit. I have read that if one listens to music during the flood i have heard traditional bwiti music is used. when i dmt i listen to loreena Mckennit something about her voice keeps me soothed. the flood will be much longer than a dmt dose and was wondering if there are any sugestions for musical selections. ive read that -music might be too loud and not pleasing all the time but.... if anybody does listen to music where can i find the traditional bwiti or just good soothing music for the journey. in my life sofar ive only found that loreena does it for me on dmt and the voice of a woman during an experience like dmt just seems apropriate. anyways just lookin fer some advice thnx.....

Personally I always listened to music during my floods, not usually early on during the most extreme physical stuff, purge etc, but later on once I felt more comfortable.  I had never listened to traditional Bwiti music etc during my floods, I would have been open to it, but I always listened to what I had on my mp3 player. With Iboga was beautiful & sounded very special at the right times during a flood, it flows right into your soul it seems.  Its very different from the way music sounds & effects me on other entheogens/psycheldics, for example, I found that when an aggressive song came on, punk, metal etc I had to immediately change it.  I could not take that aggressive energy in that state, it was much too overwhelming.  Relaxing & positive music is ideal in my experience.

I personally found bwiti music to be a real distraction it was too fast and annoying I like it quiet with no music and no distractions

I agree with missjess,  I think it is better with silence,  especially in the beginning,  I can see some calming music to cut any background noise, but Ideally you would be in a quiet place already.

I started using Kambo, Kaolin Face Paint and Bwiti music to tell who is ready for taking the rebirth amount of Iboga.  I see Bwiti music as totally crucial to the experience and driving of the visions.  When people can't handle it, I find it to be extremely dissapointing.  Now I do a pre check by making sure they are comfortable with Bwiti music before hand.  youtube: 8sacredroot8 Intermixed with the Bwiti is some Pygmy music.  About 6-12 hrs into it I change to Kora Music.  About 18 hrs later when things start to get rather boring (unless they are still "in") I play interesting podcasts from Red Ice Creations from years gone by.  Especially the ones on ancient history and spirituality seem to really help the fresh start off right. I don't mean to offend those opposed to Bwiti music or that don't like it during ceremony.  These are my beliefs/dogmas and I don't expect others to have them.  I do find that those that can't handle Bwiti music are far harder to treat and need their skulls split far more than those that are predisposed to Bwiti music.

I deff do need my head split open ... Just because I dislike the bwiti music or any kind of music for that matter in the background does not make me harder to treat ...  I simply find it utterly distracting and annoying I want to go deep and not be annoyed by "outside influences" I guess I haven't given nice relaxing meditation style music a go tho which would be more ideal then that horrible fast paced bwiti music

These links I posted are not working for me for some unknown reason, maybe taken down.  Sorry.  I will try to make other suggestions.  There's something special about Ibogaine for the first time and listening to Tibetan singing bowls when the moments right....                                 I think we should have an official Iboga flood music link thread.  Or should we just make this that thread?

I love bwiti music, now i can't listen to any other music when meeting the sacred plants. Especialy the sacred harp... Bwitis are real pros and you are safe in their "hands" !

humbleaspen, bwiti music is not "horrible", stop judging and open up a little. To each his own you may say and i usualy agree but in this case it is different: bwiti music is healing music, music made for the Iboga experience, it is not just for the ambiance, in fact it is an effective chirurgical tool. If it feels horrible to you then maybe it's because it indicates a precise problem you have to work on...just an idea ! Here is a beautiful recording, go listen to the track 23# ("harp song of the road of death") and tell me if it still sounds horrible. http://www.amazon.com/Music-Equatorial-Microcosm-Republic-Selections/dp/B000RKGOM6 To be honest i am still wondering if one has to be already "sensitized" by prior psychedelic experiences to be sensible to this kind of music or not. I am curious to have some inputs on that. I just want to precise that i still have to experience any flood, my bwiti music "saving experiences" happened with Ayahuasca.

AHA!!! My long lost eternal brother!  Good to see you over here, for once.  humbleaspen, I have learned the lesson of trying to put my points across and can only say that I speak from a subjective tone.  That being said for me, it is a judge of who I can treat.  For me alone (maybe the Bwiti) their are prerequisites meriting qualification.  Makes it much easier for me that way so I am not going up against something that is counterproductive.  Fluid like water.  I'm not one of those people that will just treat anyone for a buck or something, it's gotta be like a current flowing reciprical.  I tried to state that it was just my opinion (maybe humble maybe egotistical, who am I to judge) but it probably came off different.

Ah, we're cut from the same thread, miss you brother.  I have had some of my most powerful Bwiti/Iboga connections in the same fashion.  The most powerful by far was when I witnessed the crucifiction or should I say crucinonfiction of Christ while listening to Bwiti music while on Aya.  To bad you live so far away brother, we could really start the first ever Santo Bwiti church.

I have been looking into the bwiti music since this thread started and it seems that i can see where it would be a bit abrassive. I do understand that once in the right state of mind things change and become more understandable. some of the music I have listened to dosent seem soothing to me but I also havent flooded yet. My first pseudo aya experience was very stong. 7 gm serian rue and a kilo mimosa bark boil w lemon juice i had condensed this liquid into 2 doses mind you I had no idea the strength of this plant combo. i had read alot befor doing it but reading cant really prepare you if you are going alone witch i was. sooooo need less to say my experience was very strong and completely overwhelming. it hit me like a flash. purge and them blastoff no comeup just pure intensity. when i could get up from the floor i got my sister and she put some loreena mckennit on the cd and ever since then its all i can listen to when using dmt. I can see that were i to have listened to somthing different i might be just as atteched to that. when i flood if i find some bwiti music that i fine appealing and listen to that for my first flood it might help set the stage for listening to said music for future possible floods. we tend to attach our self to things when in a particular state of mind. so i can see where certain people wouldnt like particular music if it wasnt introduced from the get go. thnx to all the replies and look forward to more... cheers
