A 44-year-old woman became unresponsive during a session involving ibogaine in France in 1990 and died about four hours after ingestion.
Ibogaine was detected at autopsy. The case series distinguishes acute heart failure in the autopsy record from its own assessment that ibogaine intoxication contributed alongside significant cardiovascular disease.
