KNOWN FATALITYCAUSALITY: ALLEGED

United Kingdom

2000

A 40-year-old man died in the United Kingdom in 2000 after taking an iboga alkaloid extract during opioid detoxification.

The series reports vomiting shortly before death and underlying liver fibrosis associated with hepatitis C. The autopsy attributed the death to a fatal reaction to the preparation. Also covered by Corkery (2018) as the first UK case; same person as Alper case 4 (do not duplicate). Sources: - Alper, K. R., Stajić, M. & Gill, J. R.
