Alternative plant sources for Ibogain

Just thought id start a list feel free to add on  Caranantheus roseus: both Ibogain & yohimbine found as minor alkaloids. Jasminium didymum: Ibogain, Iboxygain in bark. Tabernaemontana divicarta: Ibogain, & Ibogamine in root bark. Tabernaemontana orientalis: Ibogain in leaf, stem, bark. Tabernaemontana pubescence: ibogain,& voacangine in root bark. Tabernaemontana quadrangulis: Ibogain, 20-hydroxyIbogamine in bark Trachelosperum asiatic: Ibogain & Iboxygain in bark Trachelosperum jasminoids (star jasmine): Ibogain & vobasine in bark.

But are they present in enough concentration to do any good? Star jasmine, for example, has defied extraction by many fairly experienced people. Perhaps if you are a chemist you could do it. Voacanga africana, is said to contain some. I'm not sure if it is present in strong enough amounts. It does contain a number of interesting alkaloids. I've heard the leaves contain alkaloids but mainly in the seeds. Perhaps other parts too.

probably not enough in the star jasmine for a raw ethanolic extract but heres an tech for those who are interested in chemistry Extracting Ibogaine from Tabernanthe iboga and Trachelospermum jasminoides http://www.lycaeum.org/leda/docs/16151.shtml?ID=16151

I've seen those papers before. It seems that only about 1 or 2 parts in 10,000 of starting material will turn out to be ibogaine in the star jasmine. It just does not seem worth it.

I've tried extracting around a kg of star jasmine arial parts by alternately boiling and freezing it in 5 % vinegar, then basing the liquid to precip. The precip was then dried and extracted into acetone, which retrieved essentially nothing. All ibogamine related alkaloid freebases are acetone soluble I think, so it seems there weren't any in there. I could have made a mistake somewhere, but most of my chemistry projects are successful. As for the other plants, I think they are medicinal in their own right, but I doubt any other species are a useful source of ibogaine. I wish there were others, but I haven't even seen any strong positive results from T. orientalis yet, and that one seems to be the most promising of all. Maybe people are just keeping it a secret? I believe its best just to get iboga rootbark.

A lot of it tends to depend on where your growing your plants, in there natural climate there rich in alkaloids trying to grow tropical plants in the northern hemisphere might be where a lot of people are going wrong for starters. One of the reasons I started this list is the new model drug scheduals currently being passed through the Australian government which is criminalising the possesion of over 100 plants Iboga being one of them I thought at least the ozzys might be  interested in alternative plant sources seeing as you soon could now be imprisoned for growing taberanthe Iboga. And hey if it takes a post graduate in medicinal chemistry to isolate the Ibogain so be it Id rather be sourcing from some one who knew what they were doing rather than a dodgy basement shaman (as pure as there intentions may be) Oh and rho there is quite a lot of work being done whith T.orientalis In NQ Aus where it is a native and has been employed as a visionary tool and medicine by the Indiginous people for thousands of years

So lets add Tabernanthe iboga (iboga) to that list for comparison. And Voacanga a. is probably of interest. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Tabernanthe iboga (Iboga): ibogaine, ibogamine, coronaridine, tabernanthine, dihydroxyibogamine, voacangine, ibogaline, and catharanthine. Caranantheus roseus: both Ibogain & yohimbine found as minor alkaloids.Jasminium didymum: Ibogain, Iboxygain in bark.Tabernaemontana divicarta: Ibogain, & Ibogamine in root bark.Tabernaemontana orientalis: Ibogain in leaf, stem, bark.Tabernaemontana pubescence: ibogain,& voacangine in root bark.Tabernaemontana quadrangulis: Ibogain, 20-hydroxyIbogamine in barkTrachelosperum asiatic: Ibogain & Iboxygain in barkTrachelosperum jasminoids (star jasmine): Ibogain & vobasine in bark.Voacanga africana: voacangine, 3-oxovoacangine, voacristine, and (7?)-voacangine hydroxyindolenine

Its sad to see this section of the forum not get much traffic.. No one here grows Iboga related plants anymore? :,( Anyway, here is a couple others. I dont have the alkaloids, and their percentages, but here is a list at least. I will add more info later Tabernaemontana sananho Tabernaemontana coffeoides Tabernaemontana undulata Tabernaemontana dichotoma Tabernaemontana crassa Tabernaemontana africana (voacangine) Ervatamia yunnanensis [syn. Tabernaemontana corymbosa] (voacangine)
