Harvested plant

I had an old iboga plant, about 7 years old which never did well. It grew and then died back. It did this every year and it seemed like the last couple years it got feebler and feebler. The last growth was tiny and died right away. So i decided to harvest it and there was only a tiny bit of root. I'll be lucky to get 2 gm after it dries. Is the rhizome any good or the stem?

Thanks kind of disappointing, stoney chalk it up as a learning experience I suppose. hehe you are 7 years ahead of my on the iboga gardening learning curve anyways. Could you tell me what kind of conditions the plant was in? what do you think it needed that was different? to answer you question; I dont know about the rhizome or stem... I would guess stem bark has some alkaloids, but I have heard the root wood has essentially nothing in it, and I would guess the stem wood is the same. I know that the leaves are eaten in some african villages because they show it in that bruce parry documentary (which is really cool to watch btw).

I just now noticed this post. The plant that fizzled out was near a window indoors. It never got really cold or hot temps. It got some sun through the window. I have no idea why it grew and then got feeble. My other ones are going gang busters. I plan to grow them outside in the shade. I heard that root bark was the best but that whole root was good too. I have no idea about leaves or stem bark. It's nice if you can get your own supply without having to order it. If leaves worked that would be great.
