Long-term brain effects - what does the research actually say?

Been reading up on ibogaine for a few months now and I keep running into claims about it "resetting" the brain or rewiring addiction pathways. Some of it sounds promising, some of it sounds like marketing. At 47 with a lot of years of heavy drinking behind me, I'm trying to figure out what we actually know versus what's speculation. Has anyone come across solid research on what ibogaine does to the brain long-term? Not just the acute experience but months or years out. Especially curious if anyone found studies that changed how they approached treatment or picked a clinic.
