Looking for a sitter in southern CA

Hello everyone, I have been researching Iboga for a few months and am hoping to try it soon.  I have been experiencing feelings of depersonalization/derealization for 6 years.  Despite many efforts to heal the feelings of disconnection from my self have not subsided.  Recently a few people from a DP/DR forum I am a part of posted saying that they cured themselves through the use of Iboga.  I am anxious to try this.  Iboga World advised me 2.6 grams of TA.  All I need now is a sitter, which I do not have.  I live with my parents who are out of the question and I virtually don't know anyone who could fill the roll of a sitter.  If anyone reading this lives anywhere near southern California and would be willing to be a sitter for me I am willing to travel and would be very grateful.  I am male/25 for reference.  Thanks for reading.

Welcome riverbend! Keep digesting the info here... maybe you will find what you are looking for.  Would your parents be there during the flood but you don't want them to know?  They would know something is up for sure.  You also want to be in a very quiet place so if they were there, even without knowing what you were doing it probably wouldn't be the best place to do it... roxine

Greetings roxine, thanks for the reply.  Oddly enough after many months of looking for a sitter, I found one tonight right after posting this.  I will not be doing it at my parents house.  They wouldn't understand this kind of thing at all.  I am actually thinking of renting a motel room for a night and doing it there, with my friend who will  be sitting.  Do you think that would be a good setting?  Would one night be enough, for example if i check in in the afternoon, take it, then the next day before 10 would i be coherent enough to check out and drive home or should i plan on having 2 full days for downtime?  I'm planning on ordering 3 grams of TA from iboga world tomorrow, as I was advised by them to take 2.6 grams TA for a full flood.  One more idea came to mind, if I were in an isolated place in nature, camping in a tent, far away from people, with my friend sitting, would that be an appropriate setting, or would the motel be a better idea?

And do you think that 2.6 grams TA is enough for a full flood?  My friend was suggested 4 grams TA, though he probably weights 50 lbs more than me, I weigh 125.

Hello, I would want to be in a hotel room where the bedroom will be dark if you plan on doing it during the afternoon.  So you would probably want a hotel room with a separate bedroom so your sitter doesn't have to sit in the dark.  I would probably stay at least two nights, especially with a 10 am check out. When you do finally leave, please have your sitter drive you home, you will still be shaky and a bit light sensitive and if it is dark you will probably be seeing tracers, don't drive.  Please have your sitter drive you home or take a taxi.  I haven't had IW TA, but I think it is a "purified TA" and probably a bit stronger than a vinegar extract made from home so I would take what they recommend.   4 grams would probably be what you would take with the homemade. Oh!  and make sure you have your sitter play the Bwiti music for you, if you haven't seen it here, I think it is under the Announcement board... peacefulaspen posted it.  A MUST HAVE  I was finally able to listen to the Bwiti music for my last flood and I would not flood without it again, really took the experience to another level. hope this helps, roxine

Were you going to volunteer? cuz i still don't have a setting place to do it at.

That bwiti music sounds real nice, I will make sure to have some playing. As far as setting goes, I will have to work on this as my sitter does not drive and I wont be able to afford a two room hotel for multiple nights.  This kind of thing shouldn't be so difficult.  Makes me think of the first time I took mushrooms.  I was playing in a field of grass with some trees, like a little kid.  I was so whole, and free!  Then I looked over and saw a cop drive by and the fear struck me - "what if he knows!".  I'm sure it will work out.  Thanks for the response.

can you find a nice natural environment?

yeah that's what i'm thinking, perhaps that would be best

cathrine_rests· 11d ago

yeah, in the comfort of your own home would be good even with ranting anti drug parants who you power chundered over 3 of there bathroom walls. Get a place that's natural and gives you good vibes. Check it before you pay for it

oh i thought you meant a place out in nature, ex. some woods area, or forrest area.  i wouldn't do it at my house.  my parents, if they saw me acting weird or different would freak out and call the cops or ambulance.  they just... there are no words, they wouldn't understand.  it's not an option to do it at my house.

get the hotel room you want a comfortable bed, a place that is dark AND QUIET. no crack head motel with people yelling outside.  Every sense will be heightened including hearing and smell.  You do want to do this right.  If you can't afford to get a two room hotel then wait.  You don't want your sitter to have to stay in a dark room the whole time, they wont be very happy or comfortable and the last thing you would want them to do is leave.  You MUST have someone that can drive.  Please don't drive right after a flood, that is very dangerous and irresponsible.  Outdoor setting with the Bwiti in Gabon might be an amazing experience but if you aren't in Gabon you want a comfortable bed.

thanks, the more detailed info i can get the better.  i'm thinking of looking at motels near my friends place who will be the sitter, so if need be, he can leave and walk or take the bus to his house or school/work the next day.  how many hours will it be necessary for him to be there?  all the info i've read people say, YOU MUST HAVE A SITTER!!! having never tried iboga i believe everyone who says this, however what is it that is so life or death about having someone with you?  i've taken large quantities of lsd, mushrooms, huffed ether all day, smoked dmt, drank, etc and all those things on my own before even while homeless out around people and have always been fine.  am i going to become so immobile so i wont even be able to reach over on the ground and grab the puke bucket by myself laying next to me?  will i even be able to talk and tell the person im going to puke so they can pass me the bucket if i can't move?  having tried all these things before on my own, i just don't understand what the big deal is, and what the person being there even does for you, other than just help pass the puke bucket and help one on their feet to the bathroom?  will i need them to unzip my fly too?!?!

If you have to ask this question, you aren't ready.  Yes, you will probably become that immobile.  The other things you have done pale in comparison to Iboga.  You will need your sitter to do all of these things, but also to make sure you are okay and be willing to get you help if something does go wrong ... it is hard to say how long they need to be there.  For some the trip may last a few hours for others much longer.  You need to read a lot more before doing this I feel.

I'm just trying to understand for myself, know what to expect, and make sure that I know what to tell the sitter.  I'm doing my best to research as best I can, that's why I'm asking so many questions before hand and want to make sure I have all my bases covered before ordering.  Could you point me in the direction of what else it is that I need to know?

Hi again, I was in a hurry this am when I wrote my last response.  If you can't afford a hotel room, can you do it at your sitters place?  This way they could be in the comfort of their own home and they can just check in on you every 15 to 30 minutes.  I made the mistake once of rushing things with someone I was sitting for.  I had been working very long hours and really did not want to do it at that time.  I was in the dark room with him and I ended up falling asleep because I was exhausted from many days on end of physical labor and he also wanted me to lie down in the bed with him since I was sitting uncomfortably on the floor.  He really wanted to do it right then and he had a huge dope habit and I was just trying to help. I am embarrassed to say this, but as I was asleep he got up and fell while trying to use the bathroom and this is one thing you DO NOT want to happen!  If I had been in another room with light and something to occupy me, like the internet or something I highly doubt I would have fallen asleep.  Everything is a learning experience.  I would never rush into it like this again even if a friend really felt the need to do it right away.  I would have insisted that he wait until I was rested and had a separate room to be in.  surfing, you aren't trying to beat an addiction here so there is no need to rush things.  It is very important to have a good sitter and environment to flood with/in.    I would also really beg of you to have someone who can drive, in the unlikely event you do need to go to the hospital for some reason and please don't drive yourself home even 24 hours after your flood has ended.  You do not want to be in nature far away from help (again unlikely you will need it but if you have read much here you know it does happen)  You will want to be comfortable and have a way to listen to the Bwiti music too Just take your time, no reason you have to do this right away.  Find a good place and a sitter or two.  roxine

yeah that's true, i am in no rush really and i do want to do it right otherwise i would have already ordered it by now.  i am here to get as much info as possible to make sure of that before doing it.

as for doing it at my sitters house i can ask, but he lives with his mom, dad, and 3 brothers so i don't think it will be a quiet area.

Hello Surf. Sounds like you should take it a bit slower and make sure and do this thing right and listen Lalababa. I would go for the hotel room. You could do the words if you have had many journies under your belt, but def. not for your first time. The more you plan and prepare the more you will get out of it. If you do go full flood and it hits... you are going to know why you need to be a safe, quite, and secure place along with a great sitter who has been briefed in how to sit for someone during a journey. Ask your sitter if they have any questions right now. Then refer them to this board or you can ask back here of course. It is so important to have someone that understands an experience like this is and has some history on the medicine. No matter what, they should speak at an absolute minimum. Really prepare and think about what you want and put that time in now. then when the time comes for your flood just sit back and let it play out and don't try and control it even 1 widdle bit. Don't push it, keep preparing and it will all fall into place for you. All the best with your future journey, please keep us posted.

Thank you.  I appreciate your words.  I am working on making sure everything is in place before even ordering to make sure I have the best experience possible.  Will keep everyone updated.  Thanks for filling me in on what to expect.  I am fortunate in having found a sitter that I feel is a great person for doing this.  He is very understanding with this kind of thing and is kind, gentle, and willing to listen.

Yes you most likely won't be able to move much at all. You def. won't be able to make it to the bathroom on your own. Someone earlier mentioned something like this could happen on another thread; You puke into the bucket, then go to puke again and knock over your bucket, since you don't want to lay next to puke for the next 20 hours you try and get up to clean it, you get up and fall over and bang your head, then you for sure can't move and could bebadly injured. Then your fkd and ib0ga has a bad name. We can't have that on either end. For proper preparation I would read through this board several times, even all the old stories and you will get a feel for it. At least 30 hours of reading minimum. Take your time and you will get what you need out of it. I am stoked you are coming on board and wish you all the best.

I will make sure to read up on as much info here as possible.  I get what you're saying about needing someone crucial.  Almost makes me a bit worried.  Will I be alright doing this on my own verses being under the guidance of a proper shaman?  I have been battling drug/alcohol addiction and mental illness for many years so I feel that I don't have much to lose, doing it on my own (since going abroad isn't an option) as long as I am well prepared and doing everything right.

aside from ataxia, aside from basic assistance in what now seem trite matters (such as getting up to relieve yourself or perhaps help you quietly deal with cleaning up your bed or body instead of  possibly laying in a pile of you own vomit for a number of hours because you can't manage it yourself) there are matters to consider such as serious health matters... the reason responsible providers DEMAND an ekg before treatment is a matter not of proprietary exclusive guru nonsense.. it is a matter of serious health concerns.. to say your heart is healthy is not good enough... unsuspecting encounters with ibogaine can be deadly.. yes deadly for instance.. a simple question like.. do you know if...  a heart beats faster or slower on ibogaine? and why is that important? (just an example of the type of frequently important matters to consider about ibogaine)  both valid reason to undertake serious research and inquiry there are medication factors .. important nutrient factors... having a sitter is important for reasons such as to assisting you in "reentry" if you haven't made sufficient preparation for your take off.. the impact of the magnesium deficiency that happens with ibogaine alone is enough to understand the need for someone to be there and to be present... re entry sucks ... life can be raw and fragile... you could be too weak and exhausted to motivate yourself to eat well, or drink water which will prolong your recovery.. and besides... you become more vulnerable in your 8 -12 - 26 hour period than you can expect.. (or much longer... )it is decieving because sometimes you are much more cognitive and aware of "reality" than you are with psychedelics ...(however there are stories out there of people being "lost" in some other world for up to a week before gradually coming into a safe landing)  it is a visionary substance and not recreational, your vulnerability is emotional AND physical.. add the two together.. and the safety and comfort of having someone who you can trust is able to manage the world outside your introspection is vital... on a side note... I know a person who is very very familiar with ibogaine... VERY familiar with ibogaine.. due to his experience and knowledge of the plant medicine and his extensive experience with mind altering and mind expanding drugs...  even the whacky dissassociatives .... even he learned a strong lesson about having someone near... he went deep into a moderately high accidental self flood .. mind you, he works with the stuff often and has helped many people benefit from their experience.. drug free, rape trauma etc... he went so deep into his session he forgot to move... deeply within his dream, his heart rate lowered and lowered... without another person checking in on him... he just went deeper and deeper.. feeling fine and confident he knew what he was doing.. fortunately for him, we had our dog around who in his wisdom and time around ibogaine .. and typical dog awareness.. knew something was up and jumped on the bed to get the attention of the  lone person deep in ibogaine dream.. immediately the guy knew the dog just probably saved his life... he reached over and checked his blood pressure and heart rate... which was down into the 30's... and this wasnt dudes first rodeo if you know what i mean... consider that there is much to glean from the info that is in here... and even more to question... if the difference between a shithole of a miserable "trip" where you forever pronounce a hatred for ibogaine... and a potentially life changing empowerment of deep experience lays in the balance of whether someone was there to help provide even the illusion of safety and comfort for you ... or not... well.. I know it is a struggle to find providers and sitters and safe places... sometimes a clear and calm intention will call the best to us.. either way.. ibogaine has a tendency to shatter the ego ... and rebuild, helping us to relearn.. i hope as much for you I hope if you DO feel called to the medicine, that you are able to meet it with enough respect and dare i say humility to get the best possible outcome for this visionary and serious experience nerte_breathes

That makes more sense now, thanks for explaining all that to me.  I was curious as to what the role of the sitter was and how heavy the experience was, ie would i be able to talk, move, etc.  Sounds pretty crucial to have not only a sitter but someone you can trust there during the experience.  I am glad to have found someone who I think will be great at fulfilling the sitter role.  I am going to look into hotels this week and try to find a good one with two rooms.  Once I get that dialed in, I believe I'll order and go from there.  Thanks for all the info everybody.

Just note that the consensus of the forum and all of the admin and moderators strongly strongly suggest having a sitter.  If you choose to do otherwise you can't say we didn't warn you so it is not on us.  The input here has been to have a sitter.  We've been through this so much in the 3 years I've been on this forum that it is unbearable frustrating.  My instinct is to rampage words with anger for even uttering doing it without a sitter, but it is more responsible to just say we told you so.

I imagine that must be frustrating.  I won't be doing it without a sitter, and will make sure I've taken all the proper precautions before taking Iboga.  Thank you for your help and input.

... hear hear.. or... here here.. AND perhaps ENCOURAGE YOUR SITTER TO POUR OVER EVERYTHING written in  response to your inquiry... to be informed and educated as well... I feel for everyone who has been in this forum longer than myself.. I can only imagine the frustration and difficulty of conveying the respect, and value we all share alongside the health and safety concerns while discussing Ibogaine. KB is correct in both his  anger and his response of... we told you so.. for what it is worth.. there is an overwhelming amount of vital information that is hard to go over when your coming into this cold and with only a vague desire to try this thing we all find so amazing... I will say this... my earnestness and desire to do ibogaine was heartfelt and adamant on doing ibogaine .... the more i forced it... the harder it became... eventually... it took 4 years before i was able to ibogaine.. i notice this often with many many people... ibo makes a presence ... and then is very very very slow in allowing you to to dialogue... the longer the space the greater the value and respect... learn more... pray about it... yes pray.. that might seem silly or non important.... if it does... then perhaps more than a sitter is needed... something like time and more research... perhaps an actual provider in your area is part of the universes slow unfolding.. it will be worth the wait

With all due respect I have been sick mentally for over half a decade being tormented 24/7 by something most people cannot fathom.  I have been in hell for a very long time with no foreseeable  way out.  I can sit around and let this illness eat me alive or take action to get better.  Yes I am eager, and let me assure you, there is a very good reason.  I don't have 4 years.  I am not coming into this cold, with a vague desire to try it out.  In the meantime I am doing my best to get the proper information necessary.  I do appreciate what you and others have helped me with.

surfing, You have been given a ton of great advice from some of these "newbies" who aren't really newbies to the medicine obviously.  nimblesparrow74 obviously knows more about Iboga than the average newbie here and I am grateful for all of his(?) input.  I researched on this forum and elsewhere endlessly for 8 months before I did my flood to detox from methadone and I still made mistakes.  Though my sitter is a wonderful person and now knows better he talked my ear off which was not a good thing and even asked me ( I was in way too deep to really know what this was about to do and just said ok) to smoke DMT.. bad mistake.  In deep flood smoking DMT.. how stupid.  I too think it is important that your sitter is well informed, have them read as much as possible so they know what to expect as well.  You will probably be fine but there is always a chance something could go wrong.  They CAN NOT be afraid to get you outside help if in the unlikely event that you do need it.   Read, read and read!  Don't rush things, if you do there is probably more of a chance of things going wrong.  Keep asking questions if you can't find answers here to particular ones you have but like Kambo mentioned we get a lot of the same questions over and over and when we do we know the person asking hasn't read nearly enough.  There is a ton of info here. jimi- haha! Pray, pray pray.. you know what? my last flood I prayed for the very first time since I was a kid, caught myself praying to Iboga for a beautiful trip and he answered my prayers and gave me the most beautiful experience of my life.  I fell in LOVE with Iboga that time... this sounds silly, I know but I saw and heard Pee Wee Herman say " Why don't you marry it HA! HA!" with his silly little voice.  roxine

nerte_breathes· 11d ago

... why dont you marry it funny.. (i got chills "re-hearing" that voice ive never heard ... at least not as pee wee herman" and surf... there is a whole other myriad of actual concerns to go over... most providers would actually screen you before fully considering wether or not to take on a new client.. I have seen numerous applications out there.. each one asking about your history and intention... there are doctor visits and reports.. medication complications... heart activity... questions about drugs, and drug history.. how you interact.. all sorts of screening to not only put you thru the red tape of cementing your intention with willingness.. but to temper a mindset and treatment plan.. in is in NO WAY a simple matter of something simple like..  "here.. i am gonna eat a quarter ounce of mushrooms. will you baby sit me so i don't eat all the play-doh?.. " I can not think of any other substance that interacts with the human body and brain as inconsistently as Ibogaine.. if you ate drank Aya, or ate mushrooms, lsd or peyote... a physician could easily predict and determine where it will interact within the brain and effect the body... not so much with Ibogaine... you could eat garlic or inject novocain and know where it would show up on a brain scan... I dont believe there are any studies that have routinely shown just HOW it will interact with the subject.. it moves in each person differently... I am staying off point here.. what I am trying to lead to is this... you said you have been dealing with substance abuse... my suggestion is seek more than the approval or accomidating advice from a bunch of Iboga advocates in a forum such as this... come here to educate and explore... and listen to what you may not want to hear... what drugs are you on... my observations and experience  will share this....(and this is only one persons opinion i am speaking of...) drug interaction vary with ibogaine... heroin withdrawal and iboga is MUCH more predictable and smoother than Methadone... Methadone detox with iboga is GRUELING and vile.... (like it does not want to let go from the bone marrow) getting onto short acting alternatives..... pre session .. and holy shit.. psych meds?.... are you on any kind of medication? ANY? how about alcoholism?.... wanna talk unpleasant? how about watching a human who comes to iboga to kick his beer habit.. sounds simple huh? .. nope... amphetamines? noooo upper substance for weeks I would recommend... these are only the considerations of one minor aspect.... detox you mention drugs and yet have little consideration and understanding of what you may need a sitter for.. (perhaps to run you to a hospital???) Am i freaking you out? or asking question that encourage you to slow down.... you know the first thing I hear a lot of providers say to someone who want to do ibogaine? "have you tried going to detox?" I am not a provider... I Have been around Ibogaine a while tho.... I encourage you .... no.. I challenge you to sit down and write out your intentions... why do you want to do ibogaine? what do you expect from the experience.. and why/how do you think Ibogaine will help or benefit you.. what lengths are you willing to go thru to allow yourself a healthy positive Ibogaine experience... These are all questions I had to fill out when I did ibogaine... ugly mistakes  with hasty ignorant choices are publicized more often than not... not only do reckless and unfullfilling ibo sessions deter people from embracing and receiving the honest miracles that seem to coincide with respectful treatments... it keeps the truths of our natural world from human experience... ...... i didnt expect to ramble on... i hope you read this with the compassion and respect I am attempting to share with/to you and this is only MY opinion.. my perspective in which I share.. In NO WAY do I speak for IBOGAINE or this group... just me to you

... I share the sympathies toward the depth of personal weight and a lifetime of crippling defect of pychie... that is why I am suggesting what I suggest.. I have seen ibogaine RIP PEOPLE TO SHREDS when they storm in with demands and excessive force.. leaving them regretting having ever done ibogaine.. not being patient enough to immerse themselves into the actual self work it takes to heal.. Ibogaine does not solve anything it does not take away anything it does not resolve or remove our pain... ibogaine doesnt heal us.. WE do that.. and part of that is learning how to own serious responsibility for our action and our decisions ... this may be a part of that surf.. by addressing the complicated stuff we dont want to... (with the actual support of a community who has been there and can actually understand... relate and assist) simply... I push my point because ... something within what i am actually trying to share... has been what has helped me to grow away from the morbib self loathing and hatred I knew all to well.... I can share happyness now..(even if i vcant spell it)  and honest joy... not the mask of keeping people from getting to close por seeing pain... but.. I have enough strength to do the new things that have helped me away from a similar place as you described.. and no.. I am not you... but you are not alone... if that makes sense... i support you... but people challenged me to get real about what I was doing...

I am willing to do self work, and demand nothing out of this experience.  I like your post and thanks for sharing.  I really hope to gain what I need in order to help myself live a life where I am well and happy.  I am ok with doing work and accept that the sea may be rough.    I can assure everyone here that I won't do this if I don't feel ready and well prepared.  The post about asking what a sitter is for was a bit unnecessary, I was drunk, and apologize.

I have been off drugs for 9 months.  I do not take any medication.  I do drink regularly and rather heavily.  I understand this might not be the most comfortable experience of my life.  I'm not looking for such.  I'm looking to get well even if that involves going through a difficult process.  I am clear on my intentions as to why I am taking it.  As far as what to expect I am clueless which is why I am asking a lot of questions.  I have been looking into iboga for over 9 months.  I first read many stories here before joining however none of them answered many of the questions i've been asking in this thread.  I have a sitter, am looking into a proper place, a hotel with 2 rooms, which i am planning on booking for 2 nights.  I plan to bring with me an extra set of cloths or two, a laptop to play bwiti music, 2 gallons of water, and two puke buckets.  I will talk to my sitter and make sure he is well aware of what's going on beforehand.  Other than that, I don't know why or what I'd be waiting for.

.... awesome... keep researching.. learn as many ways  as you can to bring about the most beneficial aspect of this as possible.. also.. go get some magnesium and electrolytes ... stay hydrated.. dont eat the day of ingestion .. and think about going slow.. there are a number of posts about how people self administered or assisted others... read what they did.. the best results came from those who went slow.. and understand that you may not even think you are as deeply involved in the dream as you really are.... so dont keep eating more because you think your not "tripping".... be still when your feeling like puking and breath into your belly slow... please keep reading... and most importantly.... its not the trip itself... i mean sure... remember your visions that first come on.... and work with the medicine as it speaks with you.. (like if some creature or person throws a ball at you... perhaps its because it wants you to throw the ball back) youll see the importance of such random silliness later on.. its what you do afterwards.. not just the next day or so... but months... do as many new things as posible that encourage you to be happy and healthy... new things... if a knowledgable provider was with you... they would suggest before you even do ibogaine... look into aftercare.. how are you planning to live your life when tomorrow comes.. and start working towards it... meet new people... if you feel you are sick.. seek people who are healing.. support groups or like minded people who are doing the type of things you want to be doing and how you want to live.. if you dont know what you want to or can do... EXPLORE.... you think things are hard now?... ibogaine is only going to bring those things front and center for you to address them.... if you want... pm me and i will suggest some ways i have learned to make sacred space.. how to place intention and ways i have learned to invite this medicine to you.... but still... i would suggest your sitter read the posts you have sent in and read the type of response people in here have suggested... and... be well... (believe me.. one thing that bothers me the most is people telling me what to do... but.. you asked in a public forum humor

One more thing surfing, if you are a heavy drinker, please don't have alcohol several days before hand... You most likely wont feel like drinking afterward but if you do it will push all of that precious nor-ibogaine that has built up in you.  Don't drink for several months if ever again.. Is this something you are looking for help with?  If so put intention into that.  I have had alcohol issues in the past.. It really helps.  I haven't had a sip of alcohol since my last flood and no desire to it works wonders for alcoholism.  Two friends I gave the medicine to who were sever alcoholics are now past their year sober mark.  They did have a bit of sober time under their belt.  If you ever have DT's it can be very dangerous so please no booze for awhile before hand... how long really depends on how much of a problem it is for you. roxine

I started a journal in which I have jotted down many of the things everyone has suggested.  Feel like I have a pretty good base going.  I'm going to do some more research and make sure I feel well prepared before going into this.  Thanks everyone again for all the input, it is greatly valued.

If I order Iboga TA, and wait to take it, will it still be good in 3 months, 6 months, a year?

When you order, the sticker on the out side of the packaging has the exp date on it depending on where you order it from. IW has the exp date clearly printed on each foil sticker and it states its good for 2 years. In my case I did not open and make capsuls untill the day of my treatment.

Yes.  Best to store in an amber or cobalt jar and keep out of light.  I have had TA for quite a while and still seemed equally potent when stored proper.  However I've had TA stored for less time and not put into a jar but instead a plastic bag (was a gift from a friend) and it was not potent at all.  So definitely storage technique is key.
