Hello amberseal, Welcome! It is good that you have tapered your dose so low, it is pretty hard to come off a high dose of methadone even with the help of Iboga, especially after twelve years. It is possible to come off the dose you are at but if there is any way to switch to a SAO for awhile it will be much easier. I would just read as much as possible. If you are looking to do a DIY treatment there is plenty of info here. It is good that your wife is willing to sit for you especially with her medical background. Keep reading and if you have specific questions ask. roxine
Thanks for the reply lalababa. I have been doing a lot of reading especially on this forum and the info I've come across is of great value to me . Reguarding the switch to an Sao I'm not Shure wear to start as I have not been to the streets for many years . I have read about kratom and was wondering if it could work for me , I'm not shore of the dosage I would need and how to obtain it. Could some one recommend a reliable vendor . If some one wanted to pm me that would fine . Also how long before my flood should I make the switch .
Hi PA, I think I would just stick with the methadone than switch to Kratom. Blur Tiger used Iboga successfully for Kratom, but since they work on some of the same receptors, not much is known about the effectiveness and he is one of the only people I know that used Iboga for Kratom addiction. You are at such a low dose now that you should have good luck, it will take quite awhile to get your energy back though. I was able to switch to a SAO before hand and I still had two months of lethargy, but no cravings or acute withdrawal. If you did want to switch to SAO before hand you can easily get poppy pods. Pod tea would help for sure, I personally would stay away from the Kratom. roxine
I also know someone who recently came off of at least 30mgs methadone without switching to sao and with great sucess, three months later he is doing great! roxine
Thanks for the encouragement lalababa. I have known about iboga for years but have just recently been proactive in doing massive amounts of resurch . I knew it would be pods or kratom for an Sao . If I were to go the route of pods , how much do you think I would need to feel ok. Also can anybody recommend a place to get them. I am excited to get the ball rolling .
Hey PA, Not really sure but I know you can get them online easily. You may just have to test it out to see how much makes you comfortable or cuts out the withdrawals. I have never actually used them myself but know folks who have, so I know they work. I would maybe look at vendors reviews or something... wish I could be of more help on that one. Since you are at such a low dose, I am guessing the transition will be a bit easier on you. roxine
Welcome Pa - I am glad you found your way here...for many people getting even this far is half of the journey. It is refreshing to be able to talk about these ideas with other like minds, and you and your unique situations will be a benefit to the forum and anyone who peruses the site after you. Beautiful isn't it? The easiest way we can 'pay it forward' is quite simply by sharing ourselves and our stories with one another, even those who just cruise by and read but do not register are getting something from 'all of this'...we may never really know about that one guy/girl who is 'out there' feeling lost and desperate - but who heard about this crazy 'witch doctor' stuff and began to dig around the Web, searching and learning, becoming more fascinated...starting to believe there was maybe something to this. Maybe somebody reads pages on pages of material, gets confused or conflicting answers, or hears about a bad experience or provider...then someone we don't know IRL - maybe will never hear from or about, will see something that describes their own station so closely it gives 'em goosebumps...then it is a new game. Then they really pay attention. Your story could be that for another suffering human being. If that isn't gold, I don't know what is. Still, I always caution folks, particularly newbies to the site and/or to iboga - to temper their zeal (if once they attain it) and never to take any one persons' or agencies' word alone... but to cross reference, research - and discuss! Even - perhaps especially if we find our own story being told somewhere, it should be taken as a sign to proceed IMO - that we are certainly on to something big, and moving forward toward a renewal, but to know that we are getting closer to the crucible and this means to take a deep breath, draw in our focus and gather ourselves to put everything we can into moving forward with the process. It has its own momentum, its own inertia and even its own timeline. You may also find this to be true, strange as it seems. Myself and many many other people have had this experience. Learning to feel again is the most difficult thing in the world that an addict can do I think. It is the bedrock and foundation of the way we will live the rest of our lives. And it sometimes takes more than one try, and it is always work required of us. But this is the most incredible tool and powerful instrument we can apply to such problems - and it really does do what you hear it does. It is our own preparedness or lack of that determines the quality and quantity of each outcome. I understand this kind of addiction, I think you are in excellent shape to be exactly where you are - looking right in the face of it. You have done well, I know what a commitment it takes to taper from methadone over a long period time, this is a good sign that you aren't put off by commitment. I wish you the best and hope that you can find some helpful ideas and perhaps make some friends here. Please feel at home, you can even take off your shoes, I'm sock-footed all the time here Keep going man, and blessings in your journey, Cal
Welcome amberseal ~ Glad you found your way here. I think i may know the person that came off of 30mg of Methadone Lala mentioned in this thread earlier Being down to 20 to 15 mg a day is to your advantage but 12 years is a long time & your system may need some time after your Flood to fully get back on track but it will if you push forward. Having a plan of action & some sort of support if possible after you Flood is just as important as planning the Flood itself. I Personally had some PAWS after but NO CRAVING'S to use opiates or god forbid head back to "The Clinic". again, glad you are here amberseal, it sounds like you are headed in the right direction & please keep us updated.
