Please read this warning and give me feedback if you can

I have been taking doses of 500 mg up to 1 g in the ayahuasca afterglow and it has been extraordinarily cleansing. I would like to hear if anyone has ever heard of a problem mixing micro doses with ayahuasca because I was given this feedback on the topic......... Ibogaine is a strong SSRI and as such, has the very strong possibility of triggering serotonin syndrome (serotonin toxicity). I must point out that the *deadliest* form of serotonin toxicity precisely comes from combining or overlapping and MAOI and an SSRI. This proposition is simply not safe at all under any circumstances, really.

Hi 93, I do not think that Ibo is an SSRI but opinions differ.  What you may be thinking about is taking SSRI or NI type meds can cause major problems with Ibo, it really can be a big deal and can lead to death. Best,  cinderpath

What I am understanding is that Iboga is a strong ssri and ayahuasca is a maoi = seretonin toxicity My doses of Iboga, when mixed with the ayahuasca afterglow, are small. Like 500 mg to 1 g. I love it. It is healing. I would like to up my dosage of ibo after ayahuasca but I am running into some evidence that suggests that it is dangerous to mix the two. Anybody ?

I never had any problems mixing a few g of bark with my aya brews. I'll often eat 100 mg harmala aklaloids with microdoses too, and I have only had good experiences. In fact, the effects of ~100 mgs harmalas and ~0.5g bark are amazingly similar. I am not a doctor, but I know the maoi and ssri classifications for psychoactive substances is not simple. I've read that THH (one of the main harmala alkaloids in caapi) acts as an maoi and also as an ssri. There are many different types of maoi activity that have different levels of risk for serotonin syndrome, and I'd guess the same is true for drugs with ssri action. It's good to be cautious when it comes to ssri / maoi, but caapi and iboga seem quite safe to me, to several other people who have experimented with it, and I have never read of a bad interaction. PS where did that quote that iboga is a strong ssri come from?
