TA in acetone, how long?

Hi all, Q1: how long should TA sit in acetone? Q2: If I don't do the acetone step, and have ammonia step as last, this TA is not soluble in water? Then how is it absorbed by the body? thanx roxine_writes

Put it in the fridge to chill overnight. Freebases absorb still, especially when they hit the hydrochloric acid in your stomach..

Thanx GR8 Dad, but I was refering before the Hcl, or free base TA + acetone how long? also the % 1. free base TA is 60% 2. TA HCl is 90 % of active alcaloids or how much? based on IW when you buy thier TA, they recomend 4g for me, which is I believe Free base then and NOT pure TA. 3. How is it different at all pure TA and Ibogaine HCl? thanx    roxine_writes

It looks to me like GD understood your original questions and already answered them. As for the percentages they vary and I have no experience with IW extracts. The only way to really know the right amount is experience.

The freebases from TA dissolve in acetone, and ibogaine, ibogaline, and ibogamine will precipitate out with hydrochloric acid.  If left to chill overnight in the fridge, it will increase yield. The TA from IW is supposedly tested at around 70% pure iboga alkaloids, but should be in a salt form, which is much more stable than the freebases. TA or PTA is not pure ibogaine HCl, but rather a mixture of all or some the alkaloids from the bark, such as the ones I mentioned, and each of these alkaloids that precipitate out, depending on their method of extraction can slightly change the effects of the extract, by adding duration, or other synergistic side effects. Also, these statements are all subjective, as each person will have their own body chemistry and how they perceive their experiences from these added alkaloids.  Hope this helps a bit.

GR8-Dad, as I said: 1. How long to have acetone and free base for? NOT how long to have HCL in acetone. This detail is missed in all presentations. 2. IW calculations of % is totally off because their stuff is very weak, it is double of the strong products... that's why I will be working with RESET, and if I'll use the IW count I will kill myself, since it is double. 3. Reset recommends 2g of TA when IW almost 4g...... this is quite a difference to me. roxine_writes

The TA freebase does not need long to dissolve in acetone.  Anything that is not dissolved within a few minutes (especially if agitated) is probably plant material which should be filtered out.  IW recommends larger doses of iboga than Reset recommends, because they have done a lot of treatments and I believe they think larger doses do better.  I don't think it's necessarily because their product is weak at all.  From the people I know who've used the iboga extracts from IW, they have reported that it is indeed a strong extract.

and thats at a 15ml per gram of TA freebase??   or was that one drop Hcl per gram... i'll BE BACK

1: You now, take your acetone and add 15-18 mls of acetone per gram of freebase TA extract (brown freebase powder), and soak freebase in the filter with it. You can stir around the precipitate in the filter (again be careful not to poke a hole in it), and wash it two or three times with the SAME acetone. Do not go over 18 mls per gram of brown TA freebase, but be sure to soak as much color from the solid as possible. The filter should contain any bark crud, and any other impurities, when finished. This will remove the alkaloids from the solid filtrand (insoluble plant gunk that's left in the filter), since the freebase is soluble in acetone. Chris Jenks says about 50-60% of the crud is left behind as insoluble plant material. 2: Take your muriatic acid (hydrogen chloride in a water solution, aka hydrochloric acid in solution), and add it very slowly, to the acetone. You must do this drop wise, and watch as the precipitate forms. (One milliliter for each six grams of TA) is added in small portions, slowly, until the precipitation of the solid begins. If you own a pH  tester, when the acetone is at pH  6.1, 99% of the ibogaine should be converted to the HCl salt form, and precipitate out, or be caught in the tiny amount of water that the HCl is mixed with (with 1 ml of muriatic acid, the water is negligible). This can be filtered out, and the tiny bit of water separated, and left to evaporate to be sure to recover all the iboga alkaloid HCl salts (wasn't necessary for me). Adding too much acid with water can start to redissolve the iboga TA HCl. You can add a few drops at a time, and watch as the precipitate forms. When it stops forming, you can place this into the fridge, to chill for a few hours (overnight may be better), before filtering, and this will increase the yield. 3: Filter out the iboga PTA HCl. This is nearly pure TA HCl, but there may be a bit left in the acetone, and other residual alkaloids will also be in the acetone. You can evaporate some of the acetone with a fan and low heat (no flames please), then remove any acidic water from the acetone (drying with baked epsom salts, aka magnesium sulfate, then filtering them out can be done but doesn't increase the yield much), and let it evaporate to collect anything there. Then treat the reduced acetone with the muriatic acid again (a drop or two), and harvest any more crystals of iboga PTA HCl that precipitate. Filter it out as well and add it to the first precipitate. 4. You can then evaporate the acetone to recover any alkaloids that do not form a solid salt with hydrochloric acid.

5. Once you evaporate the acetone the gummy residue left over can be treated with distilled water and hit again with ammonia to recover a second pull of iboga TA. (I'd like to take credit for that but dr. Jenks's long video on extraction of iboga hipped me 2 it).

Yeah, but water and hydrochloric acid evaporate all the way and excess acid will be evaporated off.  So you could clean up that last little bit a tiny bit, or you could just scrape it up and when it's totally dry, and use it as is...
